How We Work

We have a defined method of working with new clients which we believe helps us to build a new relationship whilst ensuring that our obligations as a professional firm are met.

Our Four Step Process helps us get to know our clients, and more importantly it allows our clients to get to know us. The process is designed to build confidence on both sides, and to generate the relationship which will be key to GSI and our client doing business together in the future.

For details on each step, please click on the link below…

Step 1 – An informed discussion

Step 1 is the initial meeting. It is free, and is designed to be a general chat about who GSI is and what we are able to achieve with our clients. Step 1 is usually a short meeting of around half an hour, simply to discuss the client’s needs and objectives and how GSI might assist in achieving these. Costs going forward are discussed at this meeting, to ensure that there is nothing hidden from our clients.

Step 2 – Understanding your needs

Step 2 is known as “Fact Finding”. This involves obtaining detailed information about the client’s circumstances, their existing plans, their specific needs and their Risk Profile. We then take this information away to be analysed. The analysis of this data and the formulation of our recommendations usually takes around six weeks.

Step 3 – Achieving our clients objectives

Step 3 is known as “Reality Check”. It is at this meeting that the adviser will present a full analysis of the client’s existing plans, along with our recommendations for moving forward. It is at this meeting that many of our clients realise the detrimental effect that apathy has on their plans; most clients are unaware what exactly they have or how it has been performing.

A report on our findings is left with the client to read through to make sure that they are happy with our findings and our approach.

Step 4 – Where discussions are implemented

Step 4 only happens if the client is happy with the report in Step 3. Step 4 is the part where our recommendations are crystallised and forms are completed. There can be a lot of paperwork to complete in order to finalise our recommendations, but GSI pride ourselves that we will shield our clients from as much paperwork as the client wishes.

We then manage the process of implementing our recommendations, and ensuring that the whole exercise runs as smoothly as possible.

Going Forward

We put in place our regular monitoring process once step 4 is complete. Our Investment Committee meets monthly to review funds, to gauge market feelings and to recommend fund switches. If there are any switches to be made, we will email our clients to recommend the change and then with our clients’ consent we will implement that change.

We will also meet with you at least annually to discuss your plan, your needs and your objectives to ensure our advice remains current and relevant. We believe this is the best way to avoid the huge cost implications that apathy can have on your investments.
